    New album out!
'IS' Vinyl 'IS' (Architects of Harmonic Rooms & Records/ UK - Nov/24/2009)

Late Summer Morning CD Late Summer Morning (Strange Attractors/ USA - Oct/24/2006) "Steffen Basho-Junghans has tethered his elaborate language into a pristine wedding of sound, resulting in what surely is the most actualized summation of his musical quest to date. Late Summer Morning is "minimalist trance-folk", a modern masterpiece of where Guitar Soli has gone, and where it can go next." (Strange Attractors)

  • ... A must for any collection, particularly for fans of Junghans, his mentor, Robbie Basho, John Fahey and contemporary artists such as Glenn Jones, Jack Rose and Harris Newman, who mastered the album in his Montreal studio. (Jeff Penczak/Terrascope)... see reviews

  • Last Days of the Dragons CD Last Days of the Dragons (Locust/ USA - Aug/21/2006) "Last Days of the Dragons is Berlin based Steffen Basho-Junghans' wondrous collection of 8 free wheeling fin- ger picking 6 & 12 string guitar tunes & what a doozy it is! Last Days marks the third in locust's perennial series of Wooden Guitar solo discs since the 2003 release of the compilation of the same name." (Locust)

  • Basho-Junghens plays in torrents of notes that wash over the ears with the temperament of an ocean; calm and clandestine one moment and as the winds pick up, raging almost too fast for comprehension the next. He speaks through the strings, with an affinity for a concept behind his albums; the story becomes apparent without words. ( Raven sings the Blues )... see reviews

"..this captures the musician in dazzling form mixing his unique tonal experiments on 6 and 12 string with more driving basho / fahey inspired tunes."(Rough Trade)

    News:

    ....

    Fred Gerlach
    August 26, 1925 – December 31, 2009

    ....
12 string legend Fred Gerlach died at Chase Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, grew up in New York City and moved to California in the late '50s. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Infantry as a BAR man in Germany and the Philippines. He was a 12-string guitar player who recorded for Folkways Records and played concerts in the U.S. and England. In fact, he is the link between the Leadbelly generation and the 60s of Fahey, Basho, Kottke, Lang, etc...He built guitars (the mightiest 12strings I've ever seen and played - SBJ), built an airplane, loved to sail and was an Ivory Gungrip maker of great reputation. He was a good man...
